MAYOR'S MESSAGE

A word from Mayor JohnLinder
Urban communities in the 21st century are faced with a broad array of challenges and opportunities. To help the City meet its challenges and seize its opportunities in the areas of economic development, community development and housing, the City of Chester established the Chester Economic Development Authority (CEDA). CEDA provides the City with the administrative and professional capacity to secure funds and operate programs designed to improve conditions in the City.
By agreement with the City, CEDA administers the City’s federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnership (HOME) grant programs. Utilizing these programs, the City has helped build homes, expanded recreational opportunities, paved streets, repaired storm sewers, demolished abandoned structures, made small business loans and assisted public service agencies with program funding, to name just a few of the activities supported with these funds.
Working on behalf of the City, CEDA is often the applicant for other state and federal funds to support specific projects or activities designed to benefit the City, its residents and its businesses. In addition, CEDA has partnered with developers on housing and business development projects that have improved neighborhoods and brought new job opportunities to the City. More information on these activities and other CEDA services and support is available on this website.
As Mayor of the City of Chester, I am pleased to introduce you to the Chester Economic Development Authority. Please take the time to visit the CEDA website for a wide range of information about the City’s housing and economic development programs and activities. Thank you for your interest in the City of Chester.
